Half Broke Horses (Walls)

After reading her first book The Glass Castle, I immediately put the second on my Amazon wishlist…now years later my sister bought it for my birthday and of course it turned out to be the gem I expected. A truly gifted story-teller with real-life stories instead of made up nonsense, Jeannette Walls has yet to disappoint me.

This story details the life of her grandmother Lily Casey Smith, a real tough ranching woman who didn’t let anyone get in her way. I won’t go into more detail so that I don’t spoil the book for anyone wanting to really enjoy it…but I’ll leave you with my favorite quote:

“Anyone who thinks he’s too small to make a difference has never been bit by a mosquito.”
